Bimbisara made Magadha stronger. His ambition and political choices gave the kingdom the foundation it needed to rise.
Ajatshatru
His son wanted more. Ajatashatru pushed Magadha into new wars and expanded the power his father had built.
Chandragupta
Then Chandragupta appeared. He turned that growing power into something much larger and laid the foundation of the Mauryan Empire.
Ashoka
Ashoka inherited that empire and expanded it further. But after the war in Kalinga, conquest would never mean the same thing to him again.
